HAR ADDS A SPANISH LANGUAGE OPTION TO ITS MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE PLATFORM
HOUSTON — (December 20, 2021) — With a growing Spanish-speaking population throughout Houston and across Texas, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR.com) has introduced a Spanish language option to its Multiple Listing Service (MLS) platform – the repository for all property listings, including for-sale and rental. With this move, HAR becomes only the second Realtor association in the U.S. to make a Spanish language interface available to MLS subscribers and their clients.
“Making MLS services available in Spanish was a top priority for HAR given how many subscribers communicate in Spanish and work with clients for whom Spanish is the primary or only language,” said HAR.com Board Chairman Mario Arriaga with First Group.
“HAR is renowned for providing its members and consumers with leading-edge tools to facilitate every aspect of a real estate search and transaction, and building a Spanish language component was critical to us,” said HAR Chairman Richard Miranda. “I plan to take full advantage of the Spanish language option for my own day-to-day business.”
Agents choosing to use the Spanish language option have access to all system features in Spanish including property search functions, reports, comparative market analyses (CMA) and the client portal.
English-speaking agents will also have the capability to email listings in Spanish to their Spanish speaking clients, which will improve their service to their clients.
There are more than 5,000 Realtors who have self-identified as speaking Spanish on HAR.com, and according to the Census Bureau, more than 30% of the population of the greater Houston metropolitan area speaks Spanish in the home.

Residential home sales statistics as well as listing information for about 150,000 properties may be found online at HAR.com. More than 160,000 properties have been sold or leased through the HAR MLS in 2021.
