After moving around with my family as a military brat and then moving my own family around, I am now settled in and proud to call Texas my home. Moving within the United States and abroad has helped give me the ability to successfully adapt to any situation. Before moving to Texas, I graduated with a bachelors degree from Florida Atlantic University. After graduating, I worked as an asset protection executive for 5 years where I went back to school to pick up courses in economics and history. My husband’s job took us overseas to central America where I had the opportunity to work for the State Department. While overseas, we lived in Panama and Guatemala where I learned about different cultures and had many memorable experiences exploring what each country had to offer. After returning to the United States, I worked for 3 years as a substitute teacher in Virginia. Our journey to Texas was almost there, as we made Louisiana our home for about a year.
As a mom of 4 kids, I understand the process it takes to move a family while maintaining a happy home. Buying or selling your home takes work. Originally from China, Xiuyan has been a resident of The Woodlands since 2008 and has developed a great affinity for the area and all that it has to offer! After living in the United States for 15 years, she has resided in multiple cities and communities across the country, but has yet to experience the same connection that she has with The Woodlands area. She particularly appreciates the community’s natural environment, its amenities and conveniences, school, weather, and the relatively low living costs. Prior to real estate, Xiuyan had been quite successful academically. She earned her BE and PhD degrees in prestigious chemical engineering programs offered by Tsinghua University in China and the University of Minnesota, respectively. After having children, however, Xiuyan decided to stay at home to raise them for the last eight years. With a desire to get back to work while still raising her children, Xiuyan opted to pursue a career in real estate due to its flexible hours and minimal travel.
