Enid Cleland
The Agency Austin, LLC
About Enid

Enid Cruise-Cleland began her professional life as an International Account Manager with Atari Inc. in game and product sales, focusing on international clientele, and was able to increase sales in her territory by 150% during her very first year.

When Atari sold, she became a Financial Advisor with Prudential Securities in Florida. Her first two accounts for institutional clients were for $11 Million and $21 Million. Such phenomenal success led to a promotion and her relocation to Prudential’s headquarters in New York City where she assumed the position of International Director of Asset Management. Her responsibilities were to assist prospects and clients in the allocation of their assets based on risk, tolerance and timing, and to propose third party asset managers based on clients’ needs. One of her largest accounts was Bacardi Rum, which included travel to many countries.

While working in NYC, Enid continued her studies at the Harvard School of Business as well as coursework with Berkley in California. Relocating to Europe with her family, she lived in Slovenia, Italy, and finally settled in London where she studied art history and fashion design at the prestigious Central St. Martin and the London School of Fashion. It was during those years of studying and traveling that she developed her love for historic landmarks and properties and a passion for remodeling and selling real estate. When her family finally relocated to Houston, she decided to pursue a professional career, marrying her devotion to real estate and people.

Thanks to Enid’s well-developed skills in business, marketing and negotiation, she has enjoyed enormous success as a Realtor. Especially adept at negotiating the best deals for her clients, whether buyers or sellers, she helps sellers achieve their maximum goal in the quickest time possible and buyers to find their dream property within their budgets and relocation requirements. Her clients can attest to it – Enid Cruise-Cleland LOVES what she does.

Walter Bering
Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty
About Walter

The foundation of Walter Bering's real estate career is rooted firmly in Houston's history. In the 1840's, two Bering brothers emigrated to Texas from Germany. After arriving in Galveston, they boarded a sloop and sailed up the bayou to Houston from where they intended to take an oxcart west to Llano County.

The story goes, laughs Walter, that either the wagon broke or the ox did not understand German, so the family settled in Houston. Whatever the reason, it was a fortuitous beginning. Six generations later, Walter has emerged as a commanding presence in the Houston luxury real estate market.

Eyeing prime real estate is a Bering family trait. After establishing in Houston, the Berings paid 50 cents an acre for a large tract of prairie along Buffalo Bayou which they cultivated as their family farm. Today, that tract is bordered by Westheimer Road, Sage Road, the Bering ditch, and Soldiers Creek (just south of Interstate Highway 10). Over 100-plus years, successive generations of Berings developed the property to create many of the neighborhoods in close-in Memorial and several sections of Tanglewood, areas that have appreciated from 50 cents an acre to multi-million-dollar parcels and luxury homes.

At the pinnacle of a solid career spanning 45 years, Walter is a star member of the Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty Circle of Excellence. Honored as the company's #1 producer on nine occasions - 2007, 2011, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023; he is firmly ensconced in the MTSIR Hall of Fame. In addition, the Houston Business Journal tips its hat to Walter year after year for his top-tier volume of closed sales and participation in record-breaking home sale transactions.

Walter began his career at age 14 mowing lawns for Bering Realty Corporation, the brokerage founded by his grandfather and father. I learned my first telephone skills when the office telephones rolled over to our house after hours, he says. By age 16, Walter needed gas money and was hired as BRC's sanitation engineer (janitor). After graduation from Tulane University in 1979, Walter officially joined the family firm as a Realtor, quickly becoming a top sales agent as well as the office manager, relocation director, and, eventually, the designated broker. That German work ethic has not skipped a generation.

Walter is a favorite choice of sellers and buyers in River Oaks, Tanglewood, West University, Southampton, and the Memorial Villages, dynamic neighborhoods with a growing number of new and recently-constructed homes as well as significant historic structures. Historic home sales require specialized presentation and handling; Walter expertly guides clients through the process and is particularly adept in sales involving a City of Houston Landmark or Protected Landmark designation. For those interested in country properties, Walter's portfolio includes multi-million dollar sales and purchases of upscale ranches in the hills of Central Texas surrounding Round Top, Brenham, and Chappell Hill. A powerful influencer in Houston residential real estate, Walter offers clients utmost discretion, sophistication, incomparable experience, and unparalleled access to Houston's luxury home and estate market.

Martha Adger
Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty
About Martha

Comprehensive knowledge of Houston's finest neighborhoods, sophisticated marketing, and high-end construction techniques, combined with excellent business relationships with premier home builders, makes Martha Adger an irreplaceable asset to her many clients. Consistently included among Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty's annual top-10 producers, Martha lists and sells in all of Houston's traditional high-end neighborhoods from the Museum District and River Oaks to Tanglewood, Stablewood, and the Memorial Villages.

A marketer par excellence, Martha has more than 45 years of experience in marketing and selling premier real estate. A Houston native, she grew up in Tanglewood and attended The Kinkaid School. Shortly after graduating from the University of Texas, Martha began selling high-end residential and investment properties in Houston and ranked second among an elite sales force of 50 real estate associates.

When Sotheby's Auction House opened Sotheby's International Realty in New York in 1976, Martha was intrigued. In 1979, she applied for the position of SIR Director of Real Estate Referral Services, was hired, and moved to New York. As director, Martha managed 300 real estate brokers and support staff assisting national and international clientele in all aspects of relocation. On her watch, SIR's referral services client base increased from zero to 1,000, and their broker base increased from 15 to 300 worldwide.

After four years in New York, Martha returned to Houston as vice president for public relations for a local, independent, luxury real estate firm. She supervised all of the firm's public relations activities with national and international media, including television, radio, newspapers, and magazines.

In 1986, Martha once again went to work for SIR as vice president and regional manager of the company's southwest division based in Houston. Her portfolio included all real estate marketing activities in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Under Martha's stewardship, SIR increased its regional listings from 2 to 30 in an 18-month period.

Martha's career changed direction completely in 1988 when a new, 76-acre, luxury gated development surrounding the Houstonian complex, Stablewood, broke ground. As the city's first guarded subdivision, the 125-homesite neighborhood was an innovation. Martha became Stablewood Director of Sales and Marketing and shepherded all transactions on lots and "spec" homes from inception to close. She held that post for 12 years until the subdivision became established and resales began, at which point she continued listing and selling primarily in Stablewood as an independent realtor.

In 2005, Martha joined Martha Turner Properties, which became Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty in 2013. Her outstanding sales production placed her in the company's Circle of Excellence and, in 2009, earned her membership in the Circle of Excellence Hall of Fame. In 2022, Martha received the first Martha Turner/Sotheby's International Realty Excellence Award.
