She was named State of Texas Citizen of the Year by the Texas DAR, and appointed as an Admiral in the Texas Navy by Govenor Rick Perry. She organized and had voted into law, four Texas Memorial Highways, and in 2023 , she received the Yellow Rose of Texas Commission by the Governor of Texas.

Stormy is heavily involved in the Houston community and her neighborhood associations as well as her children's schools, sports and Universities. Past volunteer commitments include the Children's Museum of Houston, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, West University Little League Auxiliary, West University Sports Association Board, Braeswood Place Homeowners Association Home Tour Chair, Mark Twain Elementary School PTO, Pershing Middle School PTO, Lamar High School PTO, Lamar High School Booster Club and Stella Link Campus Park Board. Present commitments include Rice University Football WGAH President and Mark Twain Elementary SDMC.
