Her fightin' Texas Aggie husband's job then took the family to New Jersey for a few years where they experienced East Coast living. She was recruited and competed on the UT women tennis team for four years, earning Academic All-American status and multiple All-Big 12 Conference First Team Awards. Following college, she continued playing on the professional tour and eventually worked as a head tennis professional.
