Mona's passion for serving others, while never meeting a stranger, led her to real estate nearly a decade ago. Prior to real estate she worked as a tax accountant for a CPA firm in Dallas.
Her love of real estate started when she became very active at what was then her children's school, Swenke Elementary. In 2011-2012 she became the PTO Board Treasurer, getting involved in every school event from fundraising to class parties. She loved being "in the mix" of activities and meeting people…including real estate agents Clint & Amy Nabors, who were also very involved at the school at the time. Clint's business was booming to the point that he needed to hire an accountant/assistant. It was a perfect fit, Mona says. She was with the Ellis-Nabors Team for two years, then her husband's travel schedule and kids' stage in life meant she needed to be home full time.
Adding to her real estate career is a great love of home and interior design. "I grew up working with interior designers and architects in my family," she says, "helping people with their needs financially, emotionally, intellectually." That has translated into her appreciation for and ability in helping clients keep their minds at ease during the huge transaction and life transition of buying a home. "I enjoy meeting new people," she says, exclaiming her love and compassion for family, friends, and community. "Developing relationships makes my heart sing! I've never really met a stranger." That friendliness, along with being caring, dependable, smart, and optimistic, are just some of the traits that define Mona in life—which makes her excited to bring them to real estate too.
Mona has a bachelor's in business administration from Steven F. Austin State University. In 2016 she celebrated her 21st anniversary with husband David. Their son, Michael, attends Cypress Ranch High School, where he plays football, is an excellent student, and a future computer genius with his eyes on Stanford. Their daughter, Amanda, goes to Salyards Middle School, plays softball and volleyball and is also a straight-A student. Mona and David's life mostly centers around their children but they always make time for each other. "We're about to take up golf!" she says of the new addition to her list of things she enjoys: fine dining, the ballet and symphony, art galleries, great novels, movies and travel.
