Hello, I am a single father in Houston with a 13 year old son. Last year I lost my job as my company was sold and I was laid off. I lived off of unemployment for a while but eventually lost everything including my place to stay. I have since found a new job and I am struggling to find a place to live as I have an eviction on my record. I am making $15 per hour at Walmart and my son and I are currently living with my mom. I am in DESPERATE need of a place as I need to leave immediately. I also have a significantly higher income potential but cannot reach it as I need my own space. I do voiceover work, music work, visual illustration, writing, handmade unique items for cosplay and comic con etc. All of which are on hold at my mom's because I have no space as my son and I currently share a small room. I am willing to do whatever necessary to get in a place asap. I would be eternally grateful for a rental house as this would be prime and allow me to supplement the income from my job with lots of freelance work. However, I am willing to accept anything but have had no luck with corporate owned apartments. I completely understand how this looks from the landlord perspective and I will lay out everything to them upfront. However, I don't have lots of free time nor knowledge of the most likely places to be accepted so I have been going in circles for months trying to find a place. Please help me.

Thank you for your time and have an excellent day.

I appreciate you sharing your situation, and I understand the urgency you're facing. Considering your recent eviction, one effective step to enhance your rental prospects is to address the outstanding judgment amount from the eviction. Paying off this amount and working towards improving your credit score can significantly increase your chances of getting approved for a place. In addition to exploring housing alternatives, consider reaching out to local support services and non-profit organizations that specialize in housing assistance. These resources can provide valuable guidance tailored to your circumstances.
