It is extremelly difficult to time the top and bottom of a market. However, experienced investors have a long term view and even if you bought at the pick in 2006, if you survive through the downturn in 08-09, you would now be looking at a nice appreciation.

It's always a good time to invest in real estate. If the market is slow prices will be lower and more people will be renting.
