It will be between matching color wood in living room and carpet in dining room. Currently choice is between wood look tile & reg tile. Thought the wood look would be more elegant, but how does it do for resale value?
Wood flooring is very popular right now and the wood look tile is a great option for a kitchen as long as it matches well with the other adjacent flooring you should be fine.
Its a good thing that you are approaching renovations with an eye towards resale. In this case I'd say "please yourself" as the differentiation you are pondering is not wildly different. What pleases you? Future buyers will want a "nice-looking" flooring that is professionally installed that is not obnoxious in its looks or maintenance... and it sound like you already have that in your sights.
Any improvement to the kitchen is a great idea. Just be careful to not over improve your home. The only way to know if you are over improving is to have your home and scenario professionaly uated.
If the ceramic title looks very similar, then it won't be a bad idea. Stay away from the cheap looking stuff. It will take away value. The last thing people want to tear up is tile. Pick something that goes with the kitchen, and other flooring. I'd probably try to give the kitchen its own look instead of trying to mimic the other flooring.
When thinking of resale keep in mind the potential buyers. The last thing you want to do is limit your number of prospective buyers by doing an improvement that does not increase the value of your home. If in doubt, always error to the conservative look.
I wish I could give you a better answer, but it really depends on how everything works together. It sounds like it could be a good option as wood and wood look flooring products are selling really well right now. As a general rule, try to avoid too many different types of flooring visible from any one point though. I would look at which one complements the existing flooring in all types of light. Best of luck with your project!
