If you want to lease an apartment, just google apartment on google map. If you want to lease a single family house, find a local realtor. She/he will help you find the house. Of course, a realtor can help you find an apartment too.

One of the most important reasons would be to protect yourself better against fraudulent activities going on. There have been several instances of Craigslist fraud and other non agents meeting people and taking deposits on homes that were not actually their home. Some agents do not like to take on lease clients and some do. I do if the person is looking within certain location criteria that is a smaller area than what I may sell or list. We also can help with getting your ready to buy if that is a long term goal. I have a program where I work with a company that helps with lease to own properties as well. Each agent is different so ask, let us know as much information as possible about your goal and we can either help you or refer you to someone who is better suited to your goal. Not sure what kind of rental you are looking for? but a Realtor definitely will narrow down things for you and move fast. As being said, there is no cost for you. I would be glad to help! www.my-apartmentlocator.com

Congratulations on your upcoming move! Have you ever been to Houston, TX? Let me be the millionth person to tell you its a "BIG" city. When I moved here 8 years ago, I didn't realize how big it really was until I saw a fb post with a drawn outline of the Houston metropolitan area over lapped on a map of France. Rest assured, a lot will take place from now until your move, imagine if you had a conversation with a real estate professional who cared about what's most important to you. Who helped you get acclimated and helped create a strategy that saved you time and money. Better yet, how would it feel knowing you had someone who is already well-connected to the community and helped you get settled in quicker? If you have never partnered with a Texas REALTOR®, there's no time like the present. If you have more specific questions or needs, please let me know and either me or one of my teammates will help you get answers for you.

Feel free to email me directly: sibel@kw.com or call/text 713-397-1999

PS. Let's help you relieve some of the stress of moving to a new big city. Take care and good luck!!

I have assisted clients relocating to Houston in the past with rentals - for me, these have been primarily military families. A Realtor can not only give you helpful area information about where you are relocating to, they can also help you locate rental properties. As with buying a home, having a Realtor assist you, costs you nothing as the tenant. That said, if you are primarily looking for an apartment an apartment locator would be your best bet....again their services are free as well.
