Hello Claudia! Congratulations on your decision to become a Texas homeowner. Now is the time to buy in Houston because interest rates for mortgage loans are still low and in many areas it is still a "buyers market," which means you get more house for your money. Buying a home can be overwhelming and working with a professional Texas REALTOR® can give you an advantage in many ways. Have you ever had your "credit score" checked? If not, this would be a terrific place to start, maybe your credit isn't as "bad" as you think. If you'd like to try a free service, buyers have had success with Credit Karma because it's easy to use and gives you instant results. Your next step would be to sit down and discuss your needs and goals. In our Buyer Client Consultation (complimentary), we spend time with you and qualify you for a loan. So by the time our appointment is finished, you'll either have a pre-qualification letter from a licensed mortgage lender or the next steps for you to buy your house. I recently sold two beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath condos in a gated Houston community for $65,000, and the homeowners couldn't be happier!
Thank you for your questions, if you have any follow up questions to my answer, please email me directly to sibel@kw.com.
There are condos available in that price range for a cash purchase and your credit score will not affect you in a cash purchase. If you need to use financing, you should talk to a mortgage lender and ask for a mortgage pre-approval. Most lenders will do this for free and will tell you exactly what you how much financing you qualify for or if there are steps you need to take to improve your credit.
