Moving to TX from MA in next few years

Hello-

My boyfriend and I are planning on moving to TX from MA in the next few years. Ideally, we will rent at first to see if we enjoy the area then buy after. We are looking for an area that has great restaurants, a concert venue for shows, within an hour of the beach, within an hour or two of an airport for visitors, safe/secure, and two bedrooms. The suburbs around Houston seem to fit these criteria. Any tips or timeline for this moving process? I believe there are realtors for renting. We don't smoke or have any pets either. Advice is much appreciated as this is my first major move. He has lived in Texas before, in Lubbock. Thank you!

Hello! Houston is a big city and if you are looking to move into Katy Area then the flavor is not the same as moving into Midtown and Downtown. See Houston is subdivided with over 300 plus subdivisions and each area of the city has its own flavor. Our public transportation is terrible and commutes tend to be interesting during peak hours, so that is a factor that you must consider when finding a location. Now if you like to be close to restaurants and entertaining, then you should consider the new upcoming area East End, Downtown or Midtown. If you are into family activities and outings, then Cinco Ranch, Sugar Land, Katy, some areas of the West Side, and if you can afford the 2M plus, then you can hit West University Place, Memorial area for some of the best rated schools in our area. If you love Asian Food then the southwest side of the city is for you. See I have a theory, buying a property involves matching life style with perfect location in a great community. I ask a lot of questions before I hit the road with my clients. I want to know as much as my clients life style to place them in the right location. Anyone can sell a building, only few of us can deliver good service which involves listening to the client needs. So Welcome to Texas! and Houston....rated one of the best cities for eating out!!!

We look forward to having you here in Texas. This is a great state to live in and have all of what your looking for. The Houston area is about hour and half from the beach and is central located near all venues that Houston has to offer. Depending on your price point is whats going to determine how close to the inner loop you get, if that is where you want to be. There are plenty of places on the other side of houston close to Galveston side like, Sugarland, Pearland, Richmond, etc. Please give me a call and with me or one of my agents would be more than happy to assist you in find a home. 281-786-7303 Thomas @ The Charlton Team RE/MAX Vintage

If you want to be within an hour of the beach, you definitely need to live on the south side of downtown. There are many suburban communities that fit what you are looking, such Clear Lake City, Pearland, Friendswood, and League City.

Congratulations on your pending move! There are many great places to call home in the Houston area. Most are within an hour or two to the beach, airport and concert venues. Given your timeline, I would advise you to spend some time in Houston first. Maybe take a vacation here, if you have not already. There is much to see and many different areas to consider, due to the sheer size of the area. This should give you a better idea of where you would like to look for homes, and more knowledge on current home rental and for sale pricing.
