MICHELLE WHITECOTTON re-joined Markham Realty as a licensed REALTOR in October 2016. She worked for Markham Realty, as Office Manager, from 1992-1996 while attending Sam Houston State University. She and her husband Tim Whitecotton, Captain at the Walker County Sheriff's Department, have two grown children. Michelle has many years of experience working in Walker County including 15 years at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Michelle is the current President of The Tall Pines Association of REALTORS. Her designations include TRLP (Texas REALTORS Leadership Program), RENE (Real Estate Negotiation Expert), and Social Media Pro. She also has been involved in the rodeo industry for over 30 years. She is deeply rooted in Walker and surrounding counties and her knowledge of the area gives her the ability to find the perfect place for her clients. Her personality and passion for the real estate industry shines brightest when she interacts with clients to help make their real estate dreams come true. Katie was born, raised, and currently lives in Groveton, TX. She graduated from Groveton High School in 2018 and was very involved in the FFA. Growing up, Katie showed goats and steers in the Trinity County Fair and the Texas State Fair. After high school Katie attended Stephen F. Austin State University and soon after left to pursue a career in the real estate industry. This began by working as the Office Administrator for Emblem Properties. Katie has learned all aspects of the real estate business first-hand by assisting the broker and all the agents. She worked in this position for over two years and is now an official REALTOR® with Emblem Properties. I am so happy to be a part of such a caring and welcoming team at Emblem Properties. Coming from a small town and having a very family-oriented lifestyle, Katie is forever thankful to have found such an amazing group of people, who feel like family, to work with and to learn from. I am a realtor for one reason. I want you to have a better experience than I had myself. Here's what I mean, I've had some bad experiences a time or two with real estate agents in the past who behaved unethically, falsifying documents, and disclosing privileged information to others, To be fair, I've also had wonderful experiences with agents who never said no through the many times my wife and I explored the possibility of owning our own home, and who went the xtra mile, finding us property before it even made it to market. So, when I found myself ready to retire from teaching, I took the plunge and went to school to become a real estate agent myself. Since then, I've been told time and again by clients and other agents, as well, that they appreciate my open and honest approach to real estate. Let me give you a little background. I was shaped as a child by divorce, a cross-country relocation, frequent moves, economic instability, and a difficult home life. I took a lot of that into my marriage, and ended up moving from job to job and rental home to rental home for an entire decade. Eventually maturity caught up with me (or I with it) and I settled down to become a pastor and a public school teacher. Now I am retired from both, but I continue to educate and serve; only now real estate is my subject and my clients are my flock. I currently work for Heart of Texas Real Estate and Management Company, an independent, full-service real estate brokerage located in Huntsville, Texas. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be working at an local office with a 35 year history.
