Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent? There is nothing better than a satisfied client. Real estate is one of those professions where you know whether or not you've made a difference for someone right away. I enjoy introducing our coastal area to new residents and visitors, and I love helping people fulfill a dream.

What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional? Expectations. They are rarely in line with the realities of the market. There is so much media coverage on real estate these days. And all too often, the stories are irrelevant to the buyers/sellers in my area. Real estate markets are local in nature. I provide my clients with news and local market statistics that pertain to them.

Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession. The years following Hurricane Ike were interesting to say the least. It was the first time a storm of that magnitude with that kind of destruction hit the island since 1900. At the same time, the mortgage industry imploded with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, and the country was in the early stages of a recession. What followed was a very unpredictable market for several years. It was an experience I don't think I will ever forget.

Beginning as a Realtor in August 1967, and receiving my Brokers license in August of 1972. Prior to receiving my real estate license, I worked in the title Industry as a runner, an abstractor, an examiner and then closer (today referred to as an escrow officer.) The title business led to my interest in real estate. Residential, as well as commercial, are my areas of expertise. I recently received the designation of REALTOR EMERITUS from the National Association of REALTORS for having served over 40 years to our industry.I have been a past President of the Galveston Association of REALTORS, served on various committees, including Professional Standards, Education , MLS and Secretary of the Board of Directors. Voted Best REALTOR in Galveston in 2003 by the Galveston County Daily News . I was an adjunct instructor in real estate for 17 years at Galveston College. Taught many courses in different areas of our business. I participated in several developments of historical properties on the island as well as resort properties on the west end beach and bay areas. After a successful sales career in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, I relocated to Jamaica Beach in 2012 and made the professional change to real estate sales. As a native Galvestonian (BOI) Born on the island has always been a special place for me. After graduating, from Ball High School, I went to work for The San Luis Resort as the Condominium Concierge. While being a great opportunity to meet many interesting people who visit the Island such as Vice President Al Gore, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, Francis Newman Moody, Ruth Harris Kempner and Mr. and Mrs. Hershey (chocolate) six generation descendants from Pennsylvania, I went off to Pharmacy school in South Dakota. Then I went to work for Rapid Regional Hospital Pharmacy and Pharmerica. While expanding my knowledge of Medicines I still yearn to be back home in Galveston, an island with its rich and colorful history. The next 15 years were very busy for me while filling prescriptions at Walmart Pharmacy at the same time I took on a Management position with ABL Management. During this busy period I began to invest in my future with real estate which peeked my interest. Now as a Realtor I am able to pursue my passion for real estate and customer service in facilitating your buying and selling experience in a professional environment.
