What special or unique characteristics do you feel you would bring to the Director position that would most benefit HAR's members?

I believe that my 21 years of active and full-time experience and involvement in our industry in multiple capacities will help to provide a thorough micro and macro level of perspectives on any issues or concerns. My strong background as my brokerage’s mentor and trainer, in addition to having been a certified T.R.E.C. Instructor since 2005, should also bring a practical set of knowledge and real world sensitivities. My management skills of a large brokerage would also help to serve our members well with my ability to prioritize critical events and concerns. With my Mediator and Professional Standards training and experience, helping us to balance the needs of staying relevant in our real estate business with consumers while maintaining a strong professional and respectable reputation as REALTORS®, will become key.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge facing our industry today?

I believe that our reputation, relevancy and even competency as an industry is one of the greatest challenges we face. We can always make efforts to stay on top of mainstream news and the newest bells-and-whistles for communication and marketing, but I also know that our profound charge and obligation to stay competent and knowledgeable with contracts and laws along with our customer service skills seem to be suffering in reputation, whether it is real or perceived. Besides the ever-growing group of consumers who believe that our income is disposable and up for grabs, the grumblings of agents against agents for lack of responsiveness or contract completion skills seems to be increasing as well. I strongly believe that we have some of the greatest, brightest and smartest REALTORS® in the greater Houston area! We simply need to find more ways to demonstrate to the consumer that we are skilled, professional, and grounded in customer service in such a way that is practical yet undeniable!

Real Estate Business Experience

When solely practicing as a sales agent over the years, I worked with over 95% of my business favoring residential transactions over commercial, working roughly 60% with buyers and tenants, and 40% sellers and landlords, averaging a sales price around $235,000. As a managing broker, I sponsor approximately 250 agents, where in 2017 they sold over $176 million in sales, grossing over $5.3 million in commissions, closing all residential and commercial types of transactions and property types, with the majority focusing on residential. In addition to real estate transactions, I also opened up my own mobile real estate school in early 2017.
