What special or unique characteristics do you feel you would bring to the Director position that would most benefit HAR's members?

With my background in both technology and communications, I am always on the search for ways to create a better consumer experience. That perspective, I believe, is paramount to understanding the kind of support, encouragement, education, and empowerment our REALTOR community needs in growing our members and reaching greater goals together.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge facing our industry today?

Due to innovative and challenging new business models and companies, our industry stands on the edge of a swift sea change. The opportunity is now presenting itself for us to navigate this evolving marketplace with the vision to see our future destination coupled with the tenacity to create that future, right here at home.

Real Estate Business Experience

Growing up in a Real Estate household and with my professional history in Technology and Marketing/Communications, in 2013 I helped my mom, Linda Cottar, open up her brokerage as her marketing director and office manager. In 2014, I obtained my license and began selling real estate as well. Since then, I've averaged about 20-25 residential transactions a year. Last Spring, I opened up a new office with my business partner (Origen Realty) and we've spent the past year creating a unique business model that focuses on consumer service, technological efficiency, and a streamlined process that allows for greater productivity and a dedication to excellence. My personal real estate sales average about half and half buyers and sellers with an average sales price of about $250,000. Our office has 6 agents, currently. I finally attained my broker's license earlier this year.

Community/Charitable Involvement

On a local level, I am highly involved in GCCISD as a parent and community leader. I've served recently on their Rezoning Committee and currently serve on the HR subcommittee of their 5 year Strategic Planning Committee. I am also beginning my second term as President of the GCM High School Choir Booster Club and have served on that committee for 4 years now. In addition to this, I have served on a variety of committees over the last two years with United Way.

Political Involvement

I also come from a very politically involved family. I've worked closely with local campaigns over the past 25 years. Early on that was working along side congressmen like Ted Poe and later, when my dad ran for US Congress against Nick Lampson in 1998. More recently, I've been able to continue my relationships with Realtor Party friends like Congressman Brian Babin.
