It is in this area where the two schools differ. W T White High School’s only distinction designation is in Social Studies. New Tech High School At B F Darrell High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in W T White High School is Hispanics who make up nearly 80.37% of student population, followed by African Americans (12.25%), Whites or Caucasians (4.98%), Asians (0.91%), Two or More Races (0.91%) and Native Americans (0.48%).

Based on household incomes, the W T White High School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 73.72% compared to 81.52% at New Tech High School At B F Darrell High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, W T White High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 54.52% of its student population compared to 35.05% at New Tech High School At B F Darrell High School.
In addition, W T White High School has 49.59% bilingual students, 12.88% are in the gifted and talented program, while 7.56% are in the special education program. This stacks up against New Tech High School At B F Darrell High School with 32.07% bilingual students, 29.08% gifted and talented students and 6.79% students in the special education program.
