Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Uhland Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and with 25% student progress. Tom Green Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Tom Green Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 71.20% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (20.72%), Two or More Races (3.86%), African Americans (2.05%), Asians (2.05%) and Native Americans (0.12%).
At Uhland Elementary School, Hispanics make up 96.58% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.19%), African Americans (0.55%), Native Americans (0.41%) and Two or More Races (0.27%). There is no Asians student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Tom Green Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 41.69% compared to 88.49% at Uhland Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Tom Green Elementary School has 186 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 22.41% of student population. Uhland Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 550 or about 75.34% of student population.
In addition, Tom Green Elementary School has 22.17% bilingual students, 2.65% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.69% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Uhland Elementary School with 75.07% bilingual students, 2.74% gifted and talented students and 17.95% students in the special education program.
