Southmore Intermediate's two out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and with 25% student progress. Thompson Intermediate has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Thompson Intermediate is Hispanics who make up nearly 66.85% of student population, followed by African Americans (16.74%), Asians (8.98%), Whites or Caucasians (5.88%) and Two or More Races (1.44%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Southmore Intermediate, Hispanics make up 94.22% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.82%), African Americans (2.68%), Native Americans (0.14%) and Two or More Races (0.14%). There is no Asians student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Thompson Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 65.74% compared to 92.81% at Southmore Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Thompson Intermediate has 133 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 14.75% of student population. Southmore Intermediate has significantly more ELLs at 286 or about 40.34% of student population.
Thompson Intermediate’s bilingual students comprise 13.08%, gifted and talented students, 9.98%, while 11.42% are in the special education program. Southmore Intermediate bilingual students comprise 36.53%, gifted and talented students, 5.78%, and 10.44% are in the special education program.
