When we compared Terrell Wells Middle School, which is a part of HARLANDALE ISD, with A Leal Jr Middle School, which is a part of HARLANDALE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Terrell Wells Middle School’s regular student population is 690 with a 13.5 students/teacher ratio. The student population at A Leal Jr Middle School is 681 students and a 10.8 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Terrell Wells Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. A Leal Jr Middle School’s two out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Terrell Wells Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 96.81% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (2.03%), African Americans (1.01%) and Two or More Races (0.14%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
At A Leal Jr Middle School, Hispanics make up 98.53% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (0.88%), African Americans (0.44%) and Two or More Races (0.15%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Terrell Wells Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 89.57% compared to 94.42% at A Leal Jr Middle School.
