It is in this area where the two schools differ. Stripling Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies and post-secondary. McLean 6th Grade’s two out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Stripling Middle School. They make up for 58.13% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.44%), African Americans (11.66%), Two or More Races (3.36%), Asians (0.71%) and Native Americans (0.71%).
At McLean 6th Grade, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 56.78% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (35.63%), African Americans (3.91%), Two or More Races (2.53%) and Asians (0.92%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Stripling Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 67.49% compared to 59.08% at McLean 6th Grade.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Stripling Middle School has 124 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 21.91% of student population. McLean 6th Grade has more ELLs at 125 or about 28.74% of student population.
In addition, Stripling Middle School has 20.14% bilingual students, 27.92% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.25% are in the special education program. This stacks up against McLean 6th Grade with 25.52% bilingual students, 29.20% gifted and talented students and 5.29% students in the special education program.
