Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Except for post-secondary, Sst The Woodlands earned one out of seven distinctions. Sst Excellence's two out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary and with 25% student progress.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Sst The Woodlands. They make up for 56.12% of student population, followed by African Americans (29.32%), Whites or Caucasians (6.99%), Asians (3.69%), Two or More Races (2.91%) and Native Americans (0.78%).
At Sst Excellence, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 60.35% of student population, followed by African Americans (34.82%), Whites or Caucasians (3.09%), Two or More Races (0.97%), Native Americans (0.58%) and Asians (0.19%).
Based on household incomes, the Sst The Woodlands’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 77.86% compared to 92.46% at Sst Excellence.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Sst The Woodlands has 134 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 26.02% of student population. Sst Excellence has significantly more ELLs at 193 or about 37.33% of student population.
Sst The Woodlands’s bilingual students comprise 25.63%, gifted and talented students, 4.08%, while 10.49% are in the special education program. Sst Excellence bilingual students comprise 36.94%, gifted and talented students, 3.87%, and 13.93% are in the special education program.

The 34 teachers at Sst Excellence have been serving the school for an average of 1.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging 4.3 years.
