When we compared San Jacinto Intermediate, which is a part of PASADENA ISD, with Melillo Middle School, which is a part of PASADENA ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

San Jacinto Intermediate’s regular student population is 630 with a 12.3 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Melillo Middle School is 606 students and a 11.1 students/teacher ratio.

Performance Indicators

San Jacinto Intermediate earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 74 in student achievement, 89 in school progress and 82 in closing performance gaps. It scored 87 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

On the other hand, Melillo Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 81 in student achievement, 91 in school progress, 96 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.

Both schools garnered only five distinction designations or awards for outstanding performance. Based on household incomes, San Jacinto Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 90.16% compared to 61.88% at Melillo Middle School.
