When we compared Salyards Middle School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, with Dean Middle School, which is a part of CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Salyards Middle School’s regular student population is 1,489 with a 17.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Dean Middle School is 1,339 students and a 14 students/teacher ratio.
Salyards Middle School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 93 in student achievement, 91 in school progress and 96 in closing performance gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Dean Middle School's one out of seven distinction is in Social Studies. Salyards Middle School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Salyards Middle School. They make up for 54.67% of student population, followed by Hispanics (22.57%), African Americans (10.07%), Asians (6.92%), Two or More Races (4.84%) and Native Americans (0.60%).
At Dean Middle School, Hispanics make up 73.11% of student population, followed by African Americans (15.24%), Asians (5.60%), Whites or Caucasians (4.48%), Native Americans (0.97%) and Two or More Races (0.60%).
Based on household incomes, the Salyards Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 19.81% compared to 88.20% at Dean Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Salyards Middle School has 52 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 3.49% of student population. Dean Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 374 or about 27.93% of student population.
Salyards Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 3.16%, gifted and talented students, 15.25%, while 9.74% are in the special education program. Dean Middle School bilingual students comprise 26.74%, gifted and talented students, 3.73%, and 11.35% are in the special education program.
