On the other hand, Pearce High School also earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 87 in student achievement, 80 in school progress, 75 in closing performance gaps and 83 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Richardson High School's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Pearce High School’s only distinction designation is in Mathematics.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Richardson High School. They make up for 45.80% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (27.22%), African Americans (16.89%), Asians (6.92%), Two or More Races (2.80%) and Native Americans (0.25%).
The student population at Pearce High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 45.15%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (43.96%), African Americans (5.92%), Two or More Races (2.55%), Asians (2.06%) and Native Americans (0.29%).
Based on household incomes, Richardson High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 50.36% compared to 35.44% at Pearce High School.
