Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. Reinhardt Elementary School has a regular student population of 443 with a 13.6 students/teacher ratio while Frederick Douglass Elementary School has 422 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14.6 students/teacher ratio.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Reinhardt Elementary School and Frederick Douglass Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Reinhardt Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 87.36% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (5.64%), African Americans (4.06%), Two or More Races (2.26%), Native Americans (0.45%) and Asians (0.23%).
At Frederick Douglass Elementary School, African Americans are the biggest group, comprising 59.24% of student population, followed by Hispanics (37.68%), Whites or Caucasians (1.18%), Native Americans (0.95%) and Two or More Races (0.95%). There is no Asians student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Reinhardt Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 90.74% compared to 98.34% at Frederick Douglass Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Reinhardt Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 53.27% of its student population compared to 30.81% at Frederick Douglass Elementary School.
Reinhardt Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 46.05%, gifted and talented students, 14.90%, while 11.51% are in the special education program. Frederick Douglass Elementary School bilingual students comprise 29.62%, gifted and talented students, 10.66%, and 10.19% are in the special education program.
