When we compared Paschal High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, with Eastern Hills High School, which is a part of FORT WORTH ISD, we noted a wide disparity in ratings.
Paschal High School’s regular student population is 2,263 with a student-teacher ratio of 16.9 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Eastern Hills High School is 1,135 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.7 students/teacher ratio.
Paschal High School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 82 in student achievement, 83 in school progress and 72 in closing performance gaps. It scored 80 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Eastern Hills High School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365. The school posted 61 in student achievement, 69 in school progress, 65 in closing performance gaps and 68 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Paschal High School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and post-secondary. Eastern Hills High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Paschal High School. They make up for 64.74% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (25.19%), African Americans (6.23%), Asians (2.12%), Two or More Races (1.63%) and Native Americans (0.09%).
The student population at Eastern Hills High School is also predominantly by African Americans at 51.45%, followed by Hispanics (40.62%), Whites or Caucasians (3.08%), Two or More Races (3.08%), Asians (1.32%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
Based on household incomes, the Paschal High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 61.78% compared to 93.22% at Eastern Hills High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Paschal High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 19.89% of its student population compared to 20.44% at Eastern Hills High School.
Paschal High School’s bilingual students comprise 18.60%, gifted and talented students, 26.03%, while 7.16% are in the special education program. Eastern Hills High School bilingual students comprise 20.18%, gifted and talented students, 5.90%, and 13.83% are in the special education program.
Paschal High School's 133 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 12.4 years. Eastern Hills High School's 72 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 8.9 years.
Of its teaching staff, Paschal High School has six teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 21 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 41 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 29 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 31 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including six beginning teachers. Eastern Hills High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has eight teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 17 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 16 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 22 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including nine beginning teachers.
In both schools, male teachers outnumber the female teachers. Paschal High School employs 57 male teachers and 76 female teachers. Of its teaching staff, five special education teachers are being assisted by seven teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and 19 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Eastern Hills High School employs 32 male teachers and 39 female teachers. Of its teaching staff, six special education teachers are being assisted by eight teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs two staff members in the school administration department and 12 more working as school support staff.
