It is in this area where the two schools differ. Olle Middle School's three out of seven distinctions are in Social Studies, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Mata Intermediate’s two out of seven distinctions are in with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Olle Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 77.49% of student population, followed by African Americans (16.71%), Asians (2.94%), Whites or Caucasians (1.80%), Native Americans (0.85%) and Two or More Races (0.09%).

Based on household incomes, Olle Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 87.75% compared to 86.39% at Mata Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Olle Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 58.31% of its student population compared to 66.34% at Mata Intermediate.
In addition, Olle Middle School has 58.12% bilingual students, 3.99% are in the gifted and talented program, while 9.59% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Mata Intermediate with 69.18% bilingual students, 5.94% gifted and talented students and 14.85% students in the special education program.
