When we compared O'Donnell Middle School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, with Alief Middle School, which is a part of ALIEF ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
O'Donnell Middle School’s regular student population is 1,311 with a 13.4 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Alief Middle School is 897 students and a 12.4 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. O'Donnell Middle School's five out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Science, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Alief Middle School’s four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at O'Donnell Middle School. They make up for 44.70% of student population, followed by African Americans (40.73%), Asians (8.77%), Whites or Caucasians (4.58%), Native Americans (0.76%) and Two or More Races (0.46%).
At Alief Middle School, Hispanics make up 69.90% of student population, followed by African Americans (14.27%), Asians (12.49%), Whites or Caucasians (1.67%), Native Americans (1.11%) and Two or More Races (0.56%).
Based on household incomes, the O'Donnell Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 84.67% compared to 87.29% at Alief Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, O'Donnell Middle School has 447 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 34.10% of student population. Alief Middle School has significantly more ELLs at 554 or about 61.76% of student population.
