On the other hand, Northpointe Intermediate also performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 89 in school progress, 89 in closing performance gaps and 92 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Oakcrest Intermediate's four out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, Science, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Northpointe Intermediate’s two out of seven distinctions are in Science and post-secondary.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Oakcrest Intermediate. They make up for 43.63% of student population, followed by Hispanics (32.59%), Asians (13.01%), African Americans (5.39%) and Two or More Races (5.39%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
The student population at Northpointe Intermediate is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 47.48%, followed by Hispanics (28.03%), Asians (14.15%), African Americans (5.58%), Two or More Races (4.08%) and Native Americans (0.14%).
Based on household incomes, the Oakcrest Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 25.76% compared to 26.80% at Northpointe Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Oakcrest Intermediate has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 14.85% of its student population compared to 9.12% at Northpointe Intermediate.
Oakcrest Intermediate’s bilingual students comprise 14.59%, gifted and talented students, 13.80%, while 8.80% are in the special education program. Northpointe Intermediate bilingual students comprise 8.30%, gifted and talented students, 13.61%, and 10.48% are in the special education program.
Oakcrest Intermediate's 49 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 5.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.6 years. Teachers at Northpointe Intermediate, numbering 46 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 8 years with individual teaching experience averaging 14.7 years.
