It is in this area where the two schools differ. Northside High School's three out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and Social Studies. Waltrip High School’s only distinction designation is in Read/ELA.

Waltrip High School has significantly more ELLs at 378 or about 22.09% of student population.
