Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Both schools garnered only two distinction designations or awards for performance. For Meyerland Middle School these are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and with 25% student progress while Sharpstown International School secured in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Meyerland Middle School. They make up for 56.27% of student population, followed by African Americans (27.43%), Whites or Caucasians (12.88%), Two or More Races (1.75%), Asians (1.49%) and Native Americans (0.18%).
At Sharpstown International School, Hispanics make up 82.52% of student population, followed by Asians (8.51%), African Americans (6.44%), Whites or Caucasians (1.99%), Native Americans (0.23%) and Two or More Races (0.23%).
Based on household incomes, the Meyerland Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 69.50% compared to 97.70% at Sharpstown International School.
