Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Metzler Elementary School, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, with Schultz Elementary School, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Metzler Elementary School has a regular student population of 888 with a 15.3 students/teacher ratio while Schultz Elementary School has 547 students and a student-teacher ratio of 14 students/teacher ratio.
Metzler Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Schultz Elementary School's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps. Metzler Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Metzler Elementary School. They make up for 42.91% of student population, followed by Hispanics (32.77%), African Americans (11.71%), Asians (6.53%), Two or More Races (5.97%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
The student population at Schultz Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 48.45%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (27.61%), African Americans (11.88%), Two or More Races (6.22%), Asians (5.48%) and Native Americans (0.37%).
Based on household incomes, the Metzler Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 37.95% compared to 55.94% at Schultz Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Metzler Elementary School has 99 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 11.15% of student population. Schultz Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 172 or about 31.44% of student population.
Metzler Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 10.02%, gifted and talented students, 5.86%, while 13.51% are in the special education program. Schultz Elementary School bilingual students comprise 31.44%, gifted and talented students, 5.12%, and 9.69% are in the special education program.

The 39 teachers at Schultz Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 9.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging 13.9 years.
