Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared McNamara Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, with Frost Elementary School, which is a part of HOUSTON ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
McNamara Elementary School has a regular student population of 934 with a 17.7 students/teacher ratio while Frost Elementary School has 527 students and a student-teacher ratio of 18.8 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
McNamara Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and with 25% student progress. Frost Elementary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in McNamara Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 67.88% of student population, followed by Asians (15.10%), African Americans (12.74%), Whites or Caucasians (3.64%), Two or More Races (0.32%) and Native Americans (0.21%).
At Frost Elementary School, African Americans make up 68.88% of student population, followed by Hispanics (29.41%), Two or More Races (0.76%), Whites or Caucasians (0.57%) and Asians (0.38%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the McNamara Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is lower at 97.97% compared to 98.48% at Frost Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, McNamara Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 84.80% of its student population compared to 18.79% at Frost Elementary School.
In addition, McNamara Elementary School has 83.73% bilingual students, 4.60% are in the gifted and talented program, while 5.67% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Frost Elementary School with 18.03% bilingual students, 4.93% gifted and talented students and 6.83% students in the special education program.
