Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared McKamy Elementary School, which is a part of CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD, with Rosemeade Elementary School, which is a part of CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
McKamy Elementary School has a regular student population of 494 with a 12.9 students/teacher ratio while Rosemeade Elementary School has 457 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.3 students/teacher ratio.

Both schools garnered only one distinction designation or award for performance. For McKamy Elementary School this is in with 25% student progress while Rosemeade Elementary School secured one for 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at McKamy Elementary School. They make up for 44.74% of student population, followed by African Americans (40.49%), Whites or Caucasians (6.28%), Two or More Races (5.47%), Asians (2.63%) and Native Americans (0.40%).
The student population at Rosemeade Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 40.48%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (29.76%), Asians (13.13%), African Americans (9.63%) and Two or More Races (7.00%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, McKamy Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 77.73% compared to 44.86% at Rosemeade Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, McKamy Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 26.72% of its student population compared to 21.66% at Rosemeade Elementary School.
In addition, McKamy Elementary School has 28.95% bilingual students, 2.63% are in the gifted and talented program, while 16.80% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Rosemeade Elementary School with 18.60% bilingual students, 7.22% gifted and talented students and 15.32% students in the special education program.
