Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared McDougle Elementary School, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, with Zwink Elementary School, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
McDougle Elementary School has a regular student population of 516 with a 11 students/teacher ratio while Zwink Elementary School has 877 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.1 students/teacher ratio.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for McDougle Elementary School and Zwink Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in McDougle Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 78.49% of student population, followed by African Americans (11.82%), Asians (6.78%), Whites or Caucasians (1.36%), Two or More Races (0.97%) and Native Americans (0.58%).
The student population at Zwink Elementary School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 47.09%, followed by Whites or Caucasians (28.39%), African Americans (15.39%), Two or More Races (5.25%), Asians (3.31%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
Based on household incomes, McDougle Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 87.21% compared to 53.48% at Zwink Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, McDougle Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 58.91% of its student population compared to 26.80% at Zwink Elementary School.
In addition, McDougle Elementary School has 61.24% bilingual students, 1.74% are in the gifted and talented program, while 13.76% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Zwink Elementary School with 35.80% bilingual students, 3.31% gifted and talented students and 15.85% students in the special education program.
46 teachers employed at McDougle Elementary School have been teaching in the school for an average of about 8.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging 12.7 years. The 58 teachers at Zwink Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 6.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging 10.3 years.
