Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Lively Elementary School, which is a part of IRVING ISD, with Gilbert F M Elementary School, which is a part of IRVING ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Gilbert F M Elementary School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and with 25% student progress. Lively Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Lively Elementary School is Hispanics who make up nearly 73.05% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (13.61%), African Americans (5.68%), Native Americans (4.23%), Asians (1.59%) and Two or More Races (1.45%).
At Gilbert F M Elementary School, Hispanics make up 87.39% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (6.23%), African Americans (3.40%), Native Americans (1.84%), Asians (0.85%) and Two or More Races (0.28%).
Based on household incomes, the Lively Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly lower at 86.66% compared to 94.76% at Gilbert F M Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Lively Elementary School has 423 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 55.88% of student population. Gilbert F M Elementary School has significantly more ELLs at 521 or about 73.80% of student population.
In addition, Lively Elementary School has 56.14% bilingual students, 11.10% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.59% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Gilbert F M Elementary School with 74.93% bilingual students, 14.45% gifted and talented students and 9.49% students in the special education program.
