Choosing the right middle school for your children can prove to be a daunting task. Middle school is when children start to flex their growing independence. This is a critical transition period for students. When we compared Kleb Intermediate, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, with Doerre Intermediate, which is a part of KLEIN ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Kleb Intermediate’s regular student population is 1,438 with a 16.5 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Doerre Intermediate is 1,347 students and a 16 students/teacher ratio.
Kleb Intermediate earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 83 in student achievement, 82 in school progress and 78 in closing performance gaps. It scored 82 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Doerre Intermediate performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 93 in student achievement, 92 in school progress, 98 in closing performance gaps and 95 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Doerre Intermediate's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Kleb Intermediate has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Kleb Intermediate. They make up for 37.69% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (33.24%), African Americans (16.06%), Asians (7.93%), Two or More Races (4.45%) and Native Americans (0.35%).
The student population at Doerre Intermediate is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 44.91%, followed by Hispanics (25.09%), Asians (14.85%), African Americans (10.69%), Two or More Races (3.86%) and Native Americans (0.30%).
Based on household incomes, Kleb Intermediate’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 50.00% compared to 26.43% at Doerre Intermediate.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Kleb Intermediate has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 13.42% of its student population compared to 6.24% at Doerre Intermediate.
In addition, Kleb Intermediate has 13.07% bilingual students, 8.28% are in the gifted and talented program, while 11.96% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Doerre Intermediate with 6.01% bilingual students, 15.59% gifted and talented students and 8.83% students in the special education program.
Kleb Intermediate's 86 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.3 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.4 years. Teachers at Doerre Intermediate, numbering 84 teachers, have been serving the school for an average of 7.9 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.3 years.
Of its teaching staff, Kleb Intermediate has three teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has eight teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 33 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, eight teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 26 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including nine beginning teachers. Doerre Intermediate has two teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 16 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 22 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 17 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 18 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including nine beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. At Kleb Intermediate there are 62 female teachers and 24 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 13 special education teachers are being assisted by 13 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. In addition to its teaching staff, the school has three staff members in the school administration department and nine more working as school support staff.
At Doerre Intermediate there are 67 female teachers and 17 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 12 special education teachers are being assisted by eight teachers aides or paraprofessionals. In addition to its teaching staff, the school has zero staff members in the school administration department and six more working as school support staff.
