Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Kipp Shine Prep, which is a part of KIPP TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS, with Kipp Esperanza Primary School, which is a part of KIPP TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Kipp Shine Prep has a regular student population of 861 with a 22.5 students/teacher ratio while Kipp Esperanza Primary School has 614 students and a student-teacher ratio of 20.5 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Kipp Shine Prep's five out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Kipp Esperanza Primary School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Kipp Shine Prep. They make up for 47.15% of student population, followed by African Americans (42.51%), Asians (6.62%), Native Americans (1.39%), Two or More Races (1.28%) and Whites or Caucasians (0.81%).
At Kipp Esperanza Primary School, Hispanics make up 91.37% of student population, followed by African Americans (4.89%), Whites or Caucasians (2.28%), Two or More Races (1.30%) and Native Americans (0.16%). There is no Asians student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Kipp Shine Prep’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 94.31% compared to 91.21% at Kipp Esperanza Primary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Kipp Shine Prep has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 26.25% of its student population compared to 31.76% at Kipp Esperanza Primary School.
Kipp Shine Prep has no gifted and talented student, while 5.46% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 25.44% students. Kipp Esperanza Primary School has no gifted and talented student, while 10.59% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 31.76% students.
