When we compared Kingwood High School, which is a part of HUMBLE ISD, with Kingwood Park High School, which is a part of HUMBLE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Kingwood High School’s regular student population is 2,832 with a student-teacher ratio of 17.7 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Kingwood Park High School is 1,890 students and a student-teacher ratio of 13.6 students/teacher ratio.
Kingwood High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A (90-100) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 93 in student achievement, 79 in school progress and 85 in closing performance gaps. It scored 91 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Kingwood Park High School earned a State accountability rating of B. The school posted 90 in student achievement, 82 in school progress, 80 in closing performance gaps and 87 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Kingwood Park High School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and with 25% student progress. Kingwood High School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Kingwood High School. They make up for 64.94% of student population, followed by Hispanics (22.07%), Asians (4.84%), African Americans (4.34%), Two or More Races (2.90%) and Native Americans (0.53%).
At Kingwood Park High School, Whites or Caucasians are the biggest group, comprising 56.61% of student population, followed by Hispanics (30.69%), African Americans (7.14%), Asians (2.80%), Two or More Races (2.01%) and Native Americans (0.37%).
Based on household incomes, the Kingwood High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 12.96% compared to 26.67% at Kingwood Park High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Kingwood High School has a higher number of English Language Learners comprising 1.94% of its student population compared to 2.38% at Kingwood Park High School.
Kingwood High School’s bilingual students comprise 1.59%, gifted and talented students, 13.81%, while 6.78% are in the special education program. Kingwood Park High School bilingual students comprise 2.12%, gifted and talented students, 7.04%, and 11.53% are in the special education program.
Kingwood High School's 159 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 13.4 years. Kingwood Park High School's 138 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.4 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 11.9 years.
