Killeen High School’s regular student population is 2,187 with a student-teacher ratio of 17.7 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Killeen Isd Early College High School is 1,001 students and a student-teacher ratio of 19.9 students/teacher ratio.
Killeen High School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 78 in student achievement, 80 in school progress and 68 in closing performance gaps. It scored 76 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Killeen Isd Early College High School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 95 in student achievement, 95 in school progress, 88 in closing performance gaps and 93 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Killeen High School's two out of seven distinctions are in Science and Social Studies. Killeen Isd Early College High School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Killeen High School. They make up for 37.40% of student population, followed by African Americans (35.30%), Whites or Caucasians (16.14%), Two or More Races (6.17%), Asians (2.10%) and Native Americans (0.46%).
The student population at Killeen Isd Early College High School is also predominantly by Hispanics at 34.97%, followed by African Americans (27.97%), Whites or Caucasians (20.08%), Two or More Races (9.09%), Asians (4.90%) and Native Americans (0.50%).
Based on household incomes, Killeen High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 89.35% compared to 39.66% at Killeen Isd Early College High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Killeen High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 13.58% of its student population compared to 5.89% at Killeen Isd Early College High School.
In addition, Killeen High School has 12.25% bilingual students, 2.47% are in the gifted and talented program, while 17.74% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Killeen Isd Early College High School with 5.39% bilingual students, 9.89% gifted and talented students and 3.40% students in the special education program.
Killeen High School's 123 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 8.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.4 years. Killeen Isd Early College High School's 50 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.2 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 9.6 years.
Of its teaching staff, Killeen High School has five teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 14 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 28 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 28 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 42 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including seven beginning teachers. Killeen Isd Early College High School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has five teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, ten teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 16 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 18 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including one beginning teacher only.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Killeen High School employs 67 female teachers and 56 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, seven special education teachers are being assisted by 18 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs ten staff members in the school administration department and 18 more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Killeen Isd Early College High School employs 35 female teachers and 15 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, two special education teachers are being assisted by three teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs four staff members in the school administration department and ten more working as school support staff.
