Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Joe Hubenak Elementary School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, with Travis Elementary School, which is a part of LAMAR CISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Joe Hubenak Elementary School and Travis Elementary School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at Joe Hubenak Elementary School. They make up for 29.86% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (26.50%), Hispanics (23.05%), Asians (15.34%), Two or More Races (5.00%) and Native Americans (0.08%).
At Travis Elementary School, Hispanics make up 81.80% of student population, followed by African Americans (8.98%), Whites or Caucasians (8.23%), Two or More Races (0.50%) and Asians (0.25%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Joe Hubenak Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 33.14% compared to 81.05% at Travis Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Joe Hubenak Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 27.97% of its student population compared to 30.92% at Travis Elementary School.
Joe Hubenak Elementary School’s bilingual students comprise 26.42%, gifted and talented students, 7.05%, while 10.58% are in the special education program. Travis Elementary School bilingual students comprise 30.92%, gifted and talented students, 4.74%, and 15.71% are in the special education program.
