When we compared James Madison High School, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, with Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy, which is a part of DALLAS ISD, we noted a big difference in ratings.
James Madison High School’s regular student population is 416 with a student-teacher ratio of 12.7 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy is 353 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.7 students/teacher ratio.
James Madison High School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy's four out of seven distinctions are in Mathematics, post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, African Americans comprise the biggest group at James Madison High School. They make up for 60.58% of student population, followed by Hispanics (38.46%), Whites or Caucasians (0.48%) and Two or More Races (0.48%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
The student population at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy is also predominantly by Hispanics at 52.12%, followed by African Americans (45.61%), Asians (1.13%), Whites or Caucasians (0.57%) and Two or More Races (0.57%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, James Madison High School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 95.67% compared to 69.69% at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, James Madison High School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 32.21% of its student population compared to 28.33% at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy.
In addition, James Madison High School has 30.29% bilingual students, 6.73% are in the gifted and talented program, while 8.89% are in the special education program.
