Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy’s regular student population is 219 with a student-teacher ratio of 11.5 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School is 592 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.3 students/teacher ratio.
Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 80 in student achievement, 82 in school progress and 76 in closing performance gaps. It scored 79 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 98 in student achievement, 98 in school progress, 100 in closing performance gaps and 95 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
It is in this area where the two schools differ. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy’s only distinction designation is in Science. Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School's six out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, post-secondary and 25% closing performance gaps.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy. They make up for 63.93% of student population, followed by African Americans (29.22%), Whites or Caucasians (4.57%), Asians (1.37%) and Two or More Races (0.91%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
At Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School, Hispanics make up 80.74% of student population, followed by African Americans (8.78%), Whites or Caucasians (7.09%), Asians (2.36%), Two or More Races (0.68%) and Native Americans (0.34%).
Based on household incomes, Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 83.11% compared to 70.78% at Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy has 82 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 37.44% of student population. Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School has significantly more ELLs at 179 or about 30.24% of student population.
Additionally, Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy has 36.07% bilingual students, 10.50% are in the gifted and talented program, while 14.61% are in the special education program. Of its teaching staff, Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has one teacher only serving the school for 20-30 years, three teachers have worked for 11-20 years, four teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while eight teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including three beginning teachers. Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School no teacher serving the school for over 30 years, has three teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, ten teachers have worked for 11-20 years, seven teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while nine teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including five beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy employs 12 female teachers and seven male teachers.
