Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Idea Walzem Academy, which is a part of IDEA PUBLIC SCHOOLS, with Idea Converse Academy, which is a part of IDEA PUBLIC SCHOOLS, we noted that the two schools are on opposite ends of the ratings spectrum.
Idea Walzem Academy has a regular student population of 666 with a 20.8 students/teacher ratio while Idea Converse Academy has 480 students and a student-teacher ratio of 26 students/teacher ratio.

Idea Walzem Academy's four out of seven distinctions are in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Idea Converse Academy did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Idea Walzem Academy. They make up for 64.26% of student population, followed by African Americans (25.23%), Whites or Caucasians (5.86%), Asians (2.40%), Two or More Races (1.50%) and Native Americans (0.15%).
At Idea Converse Academy, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 59.58% of student population, followed by African Americans (23.13%), Whites or Caucasians (15.00%), Asians (1.04%) and Native Americans (0.42%). There is no Two or More Races student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Idea Walzem Academy’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 78.68% compared to 55.42% at Idea Converse Academy.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Idea Walzem Academy has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 14.86% of its student population compared to 13.75% at Idea Converse Academy.
Idea Walzem Academy has no gifted and talented student, while 6.91% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 15.02% students. Idea Converse Academy has no gifted and talented student, while 5.42% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 12.71% students.
