When we compared Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy, which is a part of SAN ANTONIO ISD, with Cameron Elementary School, which is a part of SAN ANTONIO ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy has a regular student population of 631 with a 15.3 students/teacher ratio while Cameron Elementary School has 292 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.6 students/teacher ratio.

Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Cameron Elementary School's three out of seven distinctions are in post-secondary, with 25% student progress and 25% closing performance gaps. Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy is Hispanics who make up nearly 89.22% of student population, followed by Whites or Caucasians (6.02%), African Americans (3.65%), Two or More Races (0.63%), Asians (0.32%) and Native Americans (0.16%).
At Cameron Elementary School, African Americans are the biggest group, comprising 57.19% of student population, followed by Hispanics (35.62%), Two or More Races (5.14%) and Whites or Caucasians (2.05%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
Based on household incomes, the Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly lower at 77.18% compared to 95.21% at Cameron Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 11.73% of its student population compared to 1.71% at Cameron Elementary School.
Hawthorne Pk-8 Academy’s bilingual students comprise 11.41%, gifted and talented students, 9.03%, while 16.48% are in the special education program. Cameron Elementary School bilingual students comprise 0.34%, gifted and talented students, 2.40%, and 9.93% are in the special education program.
