When we compared Hambrick Middle School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, with Plummer Middle School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, we noted a huge gap in ratings.
Hambrick Middle School’s regular student population is 1,062 with a 15 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Plummer Middle School is 1,026 students and a 15.1 students/teacher ratio.
Hambrick Middle School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 59 in student achievement, 80 in school progress and 74 in closing performance gaps. It scored 78 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Plummer Middle School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365. The school posted 57 in student achievement, 69 in school progress, 70 in closing performance gaps and 69 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Hambrick Middle School's one out of seven distinction is in Social Studies. Plummer Middle School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, the dominant group in Hambrick Middle School is Hispanics who make up nearly 91.62% of student population, followed by African Americans (5.84%), Whites or Caucasians (2.17%), Two or More Races (0.28%) and Native Americans (0.09%). There is no Asians student in the school.
At Plummer Middle School, Hispanics are the biggest group, comprising 64.23% of student population, followed by African Americans (30.60%), Asians (2.53%), Whites or Caucasians (1.56%), Two or More Races (0.78%) and Native Americans (0.29%).
Based on household incomes, Hambrick Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is slightly higher at 93.69% compared to 89.18% at Plummer Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Hambrick Middle School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 46.70% of its student population compared to 39.08% at Plummer Middle School.
Hambrick Middle School’s bilingual students comprise 46.61%, gifted and talented students, 5.74%, while 9.13% are in the special education program. Plummer Middle School bilingual students comprise 38.79%, gifted and talented students, 2.44%, and 10.23% are in the special education program.
