As your children go through high school, choosing the right school is equally important as deciding on a perfect home. High school is when students are given the tools to figure out the paths they want to pursue as adults. There are more subjects and extra-curricular activities that students can choose from. When we compared Hall Success Academy, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, with Eisenhower High School, which is a part of ALDINE ISD, we noted a huge gap in ratings.
Hall Success Academy’s regular student population is 199 with a student-teacher ratio of 7.8 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Eisenhower High School is 2,785 students and a student-teacher ratio of 17.6 students/teacher ratio.
Hall Success Academy earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 70 in student achievement, 75 in school progress and 62 in closing performance gaps. It scored 71 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.
On the other hand, Eisenhower High School not rated a State accountability rating of Not Rated: SB 1365. The school posted 62 in student achievement, 68 in school progress, 63 in closing performance gaps and 67 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Distinction Designations for Hall Success Academy and Eisenhower High School are not applicable as neither one earned a recognition for outstanding achievement in seven categories.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Hall Success Academy. They make up for 52.26% of student population, followed by African Americans (43.72%), Whites or Caucasians (1.01%) and Two or More Races (1.01%). There is no Asians and Native Americansstudents in the school.
At Eisenhower High School, Hispanics make up 70.20% of student population, followed by African Americans (25.28%), Whites or Caucasians (1.83%), Asians (1.58%), Two or More Races (1.01%) and Native Americans (0.11%).
Based on household incomes, Hall Success Academy’s economically disadvantaged students is higher at 88.94% compared to 86.46% at Eisenhower High School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Hall Success Academy has 30 English Language Learners or ELLS or about 15.08% of student population. Eisenhower High School has significantly more ELLs at 846 or about 30.38% of student population.
Hall Success Academy has no gifted and talented student, while 2.51% are in the special education program, and bilingual students comprise 14.57% students. Eisenhower High School 8.29% are in the special education program, 4.99% are in the gifted and talented program, and bilingual students comprise 29.01% students.
Hall Success Academy's 25 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 7.7 years with individual teaching experience averaging nearly 10.4 years. Eisenhower High School's 158 teachers have been working at the campus for an average of 6.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging close to 10.4 years.
Of its teaching staff, Hall Success Academy has one teacher only serving the school for over 30 years, has three teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, five teachers have worked for 11-20 years, four teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while eight teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including four beginning teachers. Eisenhower High School has seven teachers serving the school for over 30 years, has 22 teachers serving the school for 20-30 years, 32 teachers have worked for 11-20 years, 33 teachers have worked for 6-10 years, while 42 teachers have been serving the school for over 1-5 years, including 23 beginning teachers.
In both schools, female teachers outnumber the male teachers. Hall Success Academy employs 15 female teachers and ten male teachers. Of its teaching staff, one special education teacher is being assisted by one teacher only aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs two staff members in the school administration department and eight more working as school support staff.
On the other hand, Eisenhower High School employs 84 female teachers and 73 male teachers. Of its teaching staff, 20 special education teachers are being assisted by 17 teachers aides or paraprofessionals. The school also employs ten staff members in the school administration department and 31 more working as school support staff.
