Choosing the best possible elementary school is critical to a child’s foundational development. In Texas, public school districts adopt curriculum standards set by the State Board of Education. When we compared Foster Elementary School, which is a part of HUMBLE ISD, with Fall Creek Elementary School, which is a part of HUMBLE ISD, we noted a slight difference in ratings.
Foster Elementary School has a regular student population of 679 with a 15.7 students/teacher ratio while Fall Creek Elementary School has 807 students and a student-teacher ratio of 15.8 students/teacher ratio.
Foster Elementary School earned a State accountability rating of B (80-89) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 77 in student achievement, 88 in school progress and 77 in closing performance gaps. On the other hand, Fall Creek Elementary School performed excellent to earn a State accountability rating of A. The school posted 91 in student achievement, 93 in school progress, 89 in closing performance gaps and 92 overall in post-secondary readiness.
A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Fall Creek Elementary School's one out of seven distinction is in with 25% student progress. Foster Elementary School has no distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Whites or Caucasians comprise the biggest group at Foster Elementary School. They make up for 42.27% of student population, followed by Hispanics (34.61%), African Americans (13.55%), Two or More Races (4.27%), Asians (3.98%) and Native Americans (0.44%).
The student population at Fall Creek Elementary School is also predominantly by Whites or Caucasians at 37.92%, followed by African Americans (29.74%), Hispanics (18.84%), Asians (9.91%) and Two or More Races (3.47%). There is no Native Americans student in the school.
Based on household incomes, Foster Elementary School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 44.48% compared to 23.67% at Fall Creek Elementary School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Foster Elementary School has a significantly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 10.01% of its student population compared to 4.96% at Fall Creek Elementary School.
In addition, Foster Elementary School has 9.72% bilingual students, 4.71% are in the gifted and talented program, while 10.46% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Fall Creek Elementary School with 4.46% bilingual students, 10.66% gifted and talented students and 4.71% students in the special education program.
43 teachers employed at Foster Elementary School have been teaching in the school for an average of about 7.1 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11.1 years. The 51 teachers at Fall Creek Elementary School have been serving the school for an average of 5.6 years with individual teaching experience averaging 11 years.
