When we compared Eastern Hills Middle School, which is a part of KILLEEN ISD, with Liberty Hill Middle School, which is a part of KILLEEN ISD, we noted a huge gap in ratings.
Eastern Hills Middle School’s regular student population is 613 with a 15.5 students/teacher ratio. The student population at Liberty Hill Middle School is 800 students and a 17 students/teacher ratio.
Eastern Hills Middle School earned a State accountability rating of C (70-79) based on three domains: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. Scores are scaled from 0 to 100 to align with letter grades. The school scored 64 in student achievement, 74 in school progress and 61 in closing performance gaps. It scored 70 overall in post-secondary readiness, a broad term that refers to student preparedness to undertake multiple pathways after graduation, or specifically, their preparedness for college education.

A distinction designation acknowledges districts and campuses for outstanding achievement based on the outcomes of several performance indicators. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
Eastern Hills Middle School's one out of seven distinction is in post-secondary. Liberty Hill Middle School did not earn any distinction.
Based on Racial/Ethnic Groups, Hispanics comprise the biggest group at Eastern Hills Middle School. They make up for 35.24% of student population, followed by African Americans (29.69%), Whites or Caucasians (19.41%), Two or More Races (10.77%), Asians (2.12%) and Native Americans (0.49%).
The student population at Liberty Hill Middle School is also predominantly by African Americans at 38.50%, followed by Hispanics (32.88%), Whites or Caucasians (17.00%), Two or More Races (7.38%), Asians (2.50%) and Native Americans (0.13%).
Based on household incomes, Eastern Hills Middle School’s economically disadvantaged students is significantly higher at 88.74% compared to 55.63% at Liberty Hill Middle School.
In terms of Limited English Proficiency (LEP), a term used in the United States that refers to a person who is not fluent in the English Language, mainly because it is not their native language, Eastern Hills Middle School has a slightly higher number of English Language Learners comprising 14.36% of its student population compared to 9.63% at Liberty Hill Middle School.
In addition, Eastern Hills Middle School has 13.70% bilingual students, 1.96% are in the gifted and talented program, while 18.92% are in the special education program. This stacks up against Liberty Hill Middle School with 8.88% bilingual students, 3.50% gifted and talented students and 16.50% students in the special education program.
